Hacienda-Style Home by Cliff May (1939)
It was a pleasure to arrange two works for the 2024 edition of the Claremont Heritage Home Tour. Here is one of the pieces, made for a Hacienda-style residence by Cliff May in 1939.
I decided to use a mix of tropical and seasonal plant materials, which better represents the Mediterranean weather Southern California has, even in autumn time. The heliconia is more of a bordeaux colour, to suit a dark autumnal mood and the furnishings. Yet in the light, it glows in the glass vase. I enjoy to see the arrangement have more than one expression based on time of day.
Thank you dearly to the home owners for having me, and to Sean of Sherwood Florist for recommending my work for this estate. I couldn’t have done it without the support of Sean and Bernadette Kendall, organiser of the annual Claremont Heritage Home Tour.
